Kitchen Lithography with Viola Wang - Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2026

Kitchen Lithography with Viola Wang - Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2026

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2026

10am-4pm (both days)

Join us for a two-day kitchen lithography workshop with artist and illustrator Viola Wang.

Kitchen lithography is an accessible and non-toxic technique that offers a fresh take on traditional methods by using readily available items like cola and kitchen foil. Over this two-day course, Viola will guide you through the fundamentals of the medium, showing you how to apply professional lithographic techniques to produce high-quality art prints in a home setting.

On the first day, you will be introduced to the simplified kitchen litho process through a series of demonstrations and material experiments. You will explore image-making methods, learn the Intermedia process, and practice printing by hand without a press.
You will also experiment with Chine-collé and monotype techniques before producing a small edition of prints.

On the second day, the focus shifts to more ambitious, professional applications. Viola will demonstrate the complete lithography process, including multi-plate and multi-colour approaches. You will learn how to troubleshoot and edit your plates to ensure consistent results. Using a printing press, you will work independently to create a unique, limited-edition series of multi-coloured lithographs.

This workshop is suitable for beginners looking for an entry point into printmaking, as well as more experienced artists wanting to expand their technical repertoire with non-toxic methods.

Viola is an accomplished author and illustrator, known for her vibrant storytelling and technical expertise in printmaking. Her work often explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary visual narratives. With experience in both education and professional practice, Viola encourages her students to explore the magic of printmaking using everyday materials. Her practice focuses on making art accessible and sustainable, and she has led numerous workshops helping students bridge the gap between experimental play and professional print production.

All our workshops take place at our Handprinted Studio, 22 Arun Business Park, Shripney Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO22 9SX.
